No. One purchase covers Tondo on every iPhone, iPad, and Mac linked to your Apple ID. iCloud sync between those devices is included in that same purchase.

On Apple devices, yes: Tondo supports Family Sharing, so up to five family members in the same Family Sharing group can use it without buying separately. Google Play does not share in-app purchases through Family Library, so on Android the unlock belongs to the Google account that bought it.

Yes. Tondo for Android is its own app on Google Play and its own purchase, at the same price. Each store's purchase unlocks that platform. Keep in mind that iCloud sync is Apple-only, so the two platforms keep separate libraries; a Tondo file (Settings > Move charts to another device) carries your charts and progress across once, so switching platforms does not mean starting over.

No. Tondo is a one-time purchase: you pay once, and what you buy stays yours. The one-time model is deliberate, not a placeholder.

Refunds go through the store you bought from. Bought on the App Store? Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com and Apple handles it directly. Bought on Google Play? Request one from your order history at play.google.com. If something in the app is not working as expected, feel free to reach out at [email protected] first and we will try to fix it.

No. Download Tondo with the same App Store account, then use Restore Purchases in Settings or on the paywall if Pro is not shown. To recover projects through iCloud, use the same iCloud account and make sure the old device finished syncing. A .tondo export is another way to move your projects.

Apple and Google each set the local price for their own storefront and currency, so the amount you see at purchase may differ from the euro amount shown here. The price the store shows at purchase is the one that applies.

Open Tondo, tap the gear icon in the library to open Settings, and choose Restore Purchases (it is also on the paywall). Cross stitch uses a counted grid and marks progress cell by cell. Hand embroidery keeps a picture, thread plan, stitch choices and notes while you work the design on fabric. Mark each thread complete instead of counting individual crosses. Both types live in the project library.

It prepares a source preview, a transfer outline and up to twelve suggested DMC colours. It estimates how much of the picture each shade covers and keeps threads you already selected. Review the suggestions and choose stitches yourself. It does not automatically turn every shape into stitch instructions. Processing stays on your device.

The library has ten stitches: running, back, stem, split, satin, long and short, chain, lazy daisy, French knot and fishbone. They are grouped by line, fill and decorative use. Each has a diagram, needle directions and advice on when to use it. Assign a stitch to each thread in your plan.

In the project setup, choose a hoop from 3 to 12 inches; centimetres are shown too. Select the fabric and whether it is dark, then the thread type and strand count or thickness. Tondo uses this setup for cloth-size and needle guidance. Hand embroidery uses uncounted fabrics such as cotton, linen, denim or felt rather than a cross-stitch fabric count.

Assign a stitch and enter an area, line length or stitch count to calculate a thread estimate. Photo plans suggest colour coverage, which you can adjust. Hoop size, strands and thread type affect the result. Area coverage is saved with the plan; line lengths and stitch counts are calculation inputs. Some thread types have no supported skein length, so a buying estimate may be unavailable. Allow for your own technique and waste.

Open the design or the Transfer to fabric section in a hand-embroidery project. Choose a picture and Simple, Balanced or Fine detail, then export a one-page PDF sized for your selected hoop. Print at actual size or 100%, without Fit to page. Larger hoops need suitable paper or tiling in your print software. Check the printed scale before transferring it to fabric.

Record your fabric and whether it is dark. Tondo offers suitable choices from window tracing, dressmaker’s carbon paper, water-soluble stabiliser, an iron-on transfer pen, tissue paper and prick and pounce. Follow the guidance for the selected method and test your material on a scrap, particularly if heat, water or permanent marks are involved.

The iron-on transfer pen method applies the design ink-down, which reverses it on the fabric. Tondo mirrors that sheet so the transferred design reads correctly. Other methods use a normal-facing sheet. Check the selected method before printing, especially for lettering.

Mark each thread done as you finish its work. Open a thread to choose its stitch and coverage. Progress on existing projects stays accessible; adding or changing the thread plan requires Pro. Project notes and finishing steps stay alongside the design. Apple devices can sync through your own iCloud with Pro; Android uses local storage and manual Tondo-file transfers.

Try Simple for fewer edges or Fine for more, and use a clear, well-lit picture with a distinct subject. The outline follows visible image edges, so shadows and textured backgrounds can create unwanted lines. Compare the preview with the source and simplify the design before transferring it. The botanical wreath includes a prepared outline you can use to try printing.

Tondo can read PDF cross-stitch charts from many designers, shops, magazines and books. Compatibility depends on the layout and quality of the file. Preview the grid, symbols and thread key before saving; some charts need review or calibration and some cannot be read reliably.

Tondo attempts to read scanned or image-only charts by finding the grid and matching the printed symbols. Scans always require review. Resolution, blur, perspective and missing grid lines can prevent a reliable result. Check the preview against the original and use grid calibration when it is offered.

On a phone or tablet, use the camera or pick a photo of a printed chart. Tondo attempts to read its grid and symbols and asks you to check the result. A photo of a subject can instead become a counted cross-stitch pattern or a hand-embroidery plan: choose the craft in the photo flow. On Mac, choose an existing image; there is no in-app camera capture.

Use the page picker to choose the pages you need. Separate charts in a book can become separate projects; tiled pages belonging to one chart can join into a continuous canvas. Tondo supports large full-coverage charts, but import and scrolling depend on the file and device. Preview your own chart before buying. Highlight one colour, lock marking to it and use find-next or the magnifier for dense sections. The confetti assessment and Highlight confetti option help locate isolated stitches.

Yes. The original PDF stays attached to the chart and is one tap away at any time, so you can cross-reference the designer's colour notes, copyright page, or any detail that did not come through in the parsed canvas.

Compare the preview with the original. Use grid calibration for a misplaced scan grid and confirm uncertain thread assignments. On a saved chart, you can change a thread, merge entries or correct a single misread cell; design changes require Pro. If the same file keeps failing, send its format, app version and a description to [email protected].

Tondo supports OXS, Pattern Maker XSD, supported PCStitch PAT versions, FlossCross, KXStitch, Crosti, Stitch Art Easy and other chart formats. Support can differ by file version. Review the imported result and its warnings. Encrypted or unsupported formats may need a PDF or OXS export from the original program. The Formats page lists the supported and recognised formats.

Adjust the width in stitches, number of colours, fabric shade, dithering and confetti reduction. Reframe the subject, lock a colour you want to keep, replace or merge threads, and use the cell editor for details. These are counted-pattern controls; a hand-embroidery photo plan provides an outline and thread suggestions instead.

Use Adjust pattern from the project menu when Tondo has kept the generation settings. It reopens your settings and edits. Saving replaces an unstitched original; if it already has stitching progress, the adjusted pattern saves as a copy. Saving either change requires Pro.

When the import flow offers manual reconstruction, use the original page under a grid and place the stitches yourself with the drawing tools. Check its dimensions and thread assignments carefully. This is manual chart creation; Tondo has not verified the unreadable symbols. Preparation is free. Keep one own project free; additional projects require Pro.

You can tap a cell to mark it, or swipe across a row (including diagonals) to mark several in one stroke. For larger areas, a flood fill marks every connected cell sharing the same symbol, and a block-fill covers a 10×10 square at once.

Undo steps back through your last ten marking actions; Redo reapplies an action you undid. On iPad or Mac with a keyboard, use Cmd+Z and Shift+Cmd+Z. On Android with a keyboard, use Ctrl+Z and Ctrl+Shift+Z.

Tap a colour in the legend to activate the marking filter: a lock badge shows which colour is highlighted, and all taps and swipes then mark only that symbol. Tap the badge again to release the filter.

While a colour is highlighted in the marking filter, use the find-next button to scroll the canvas to the next remaining cell of that colour; it pulses briefly so you can spot it quickly, and it wraps around when it reaches the edge.

Long-press a cell to set its stitch type and track specialty completion. Supported imports can also bring in separate backstitch lines, knots, beads or fractional elements, which you mark individually. These contribute to overall progress. Check the import report for details the file reader could not place.

Parking is a stitching method where you leave a thread resting in a nearby corner while you move across the fabric. Long-press a cell in Tondo and choose any of its four corners to place a coloured dot; Tondo shows a per-colour parked count and lets you jump to any parked position.

It is neither. The calm estimate is based on your own recorded pace over real stitching days and is shown only after you have two or more active days logged. Tondo never assigns a deadline or sends reminders; it is there if you find it useful, not to create pressure.

Canvas settings let you control grid weight and interval, toggle centre lines, adjust colour strength and switch mark style. High-contrast marks and the symbols-only view help when colour alone is hard to read. The progress display chooses its percentage precision automatically.

Bulk-clear removes every marked stitch for a given colour in one step. It is available from the colour's entry in the legend, and it counts as a single undoable action within the 10-step undo ring.

Yes. Alongside tapping single cells, you can swipe (including diagonally) to mark a run of stitches in one gesture.

Yes: use area-fill to flood a whole connected region of the same symbol, or block-fill to mark a 10x10 grid square at once.

Supported phones give a small haptic tap when you mark a stitch. Availability depends on the device; a Mac does not provide phone-style haptic marking feedback.

Long-press the cell and choose the unpick or frogging flag. It marks the work you want to revisit without changing the stitched count. You can check the flagged count for a colour and clear the flag after correcting your work.

Use the floating magnifier to inspect a small area, or choose Symbols only in the canvas appearance settings. You can also adjust grid lines and centre marks, jump to the chart centre and use high-contrast marks. On iPhone and iPad, VoiceOver reads and marks visible cells when you zoom in far enough.

Tondo uses DMC colours and conversion tables for Anchor, Madeira, COSMO and Olympus. Conversions are nearest-shade matches, not identical physical threads. Check the displayed match quality and compare your actual thread or the designer’s key before substituting.

You can manually override the colour code for any symbol: tap the symbol in the legend, re-assign it to the correct DMC, Anchor, Madeira, COSMO, or Olympus code, and the canvas updates immediately. If you stitch across devices, that override syncs to your other Apple devices and back via your own iCloud. Automatic iCloud sync requires Pro on Apple devices; Android keeps this data locally.

Colour strength changes the background colour behind the chart symbols. Choose the strength that helps you read the chart, or select Symbols only for a black-and-white grid. Mark style is a separate setting for how completed work appears.

Yes. The library search accepts both project names and floss codes; typing DMC 310, for example, surfaces every chart in your library that uses that colour. Sort options (name, progress, or recently opened) work alongside search.

The original PDF stays available one tap away from the chart view, so you can check the printed shade card, thread key, or any other detail from the designer at any time without leaving the app.

Yes. Manual colour overrides sync automatically through your own iCloud along with your stitching progress, project notes, and tags. There is no separate oomny account; everything travels through the iCloud you already have. Automatic iCloud sync requires Pro on Apple devices; Android keeps this data locally.

It uses conversion tables to display a corresponding DMC shade while retaining the thread code. A conversion can be an approximation; the app shows match quality or an unresolved entry where appropriate. Compare physical threads before making a substitution.

Mark the threads you own in the stash and add dye-lot notes. The project’s thread list compares required colours with your owned threads and shows what you still need. It does not track stock quantities. You can sort and search the list, and thread-use estimates depend on your fabric and strand settings.

Supported two-thread blends appear together as one palette entry with both codes. Check the component threads before stitching. With Pro, you can also merge two palette entries or replace a thread on a saved chart. The change applies to that chart; your other projects keep their own palettes.

Set the project fabric count, whether you stitch over one or two threads, the strand count and the mounting margin. The fabric calculator shows finished and cut dimensions, and the thread list estimates skeins. Treat these as estimates and compare them with the designer’s instructions. Hand embroidery has its own hoop and coverage settings.

The stats screen shows today's stitch count, your current streak, a 7-day bar chart, and a 52-week heatmap so you can see patterns in your own stitching pace over the year. Each chart also has a palette ring that shows progress broken down by colour. All stats are stored locally on your device and are not synced.

Yes. The search field in the library accepts a floss code such as DMC 815 and returns every chart in your collection that includes that colour. This works for DMC codes natively, and Tondo resolves Anchor, Madeira, COSMO, and Olympus codes to their verified DMC equivalents as well.

On a completed counted chart, use the sharing action in the finish screen to share a progress image. This is a picture to show someone; use Share as Tondo file from the library menu when you want to transfer an editable project and its progress.

Check that the file is a chart format Tondo supports and that any cloud download has finished. Scans need a readable grid and symbols; some layouts need calibration or manual correction. Read the import message. If it still fails, contact [email protected] with the app version, device, file type and the message shown.

Compare the thread key in the original file with the imported palette. Incorrect symbol matching, an unreadable key or a nearest-shade conversion can produce unexpected colours. With Pro, correct the thread assignment or a misread cell. Send a reproducible example to [email protected] if the import repeatedly assigns the wrong thread.

Tondo syncs through your own iCloud account, so both devices need to be signed into the same Apple ID with iCloud Drive enabled. Give it a minute after opening Tondo on the second device; a sync-state indicator will appear while it catches up. If charts still do not appear after a few minutes, check Settings > [your name] > iCloud on the iPad and confirm iCloud Drive is turned on.

Open Settings > Canvas & stitching and check Keep screen on while stitching. The setting applies to the counted chart workbench. You can also open stitching settings from the chart menu. If the chart still dims, send your device, system version and Tondo version to [email protected].

Use Restore Purchases in Settings or on the paywall, with the Apple or Google account you used to buy Tondo. You do not need to pay again. If your purchase is still missing after reopening the app online, contact [email protected].

Very large charts can place more load on older devices. Reopen the app and check whether the slowdown affects one chart or every project. Contact [email protected] with your device, system and Tondo versions, chart size and the steps that slow down. If possible, include the chart so we can reproduce it.

On Apple devices, restore Pro with the original store account and use the same iCloud account that previously completed syncing. If no synced copy exists, look for a .tondo export or device backup. Android projects need an export or backup. Data that existed only inside the deleted app cannot be recovered from oomny, and Tondo’s device-local statistics are not in iCloud sync.

The easiest way is to export the PDF from your Files app and email it to [email protected] along with a description of what goes wrong during import. If the chart is from a specific designer or is a scanned image, mention that too, as it helps us reproduce the issue faster.

You can send feedback directly through the TestFlight app using the shake gesture or the feedback button, which captures a screenshot automatically. For more detailed reports, especially if you have a problem chart to share, email [email protected] and mention you are on the beta build so we can match it to the right version.

Frogging flags are in the cell’s long-press menu. Reference photos are kept with project notes. Counted charts have fabric-size and floss estimates; hand-embroidery projects use hoop, fabric and thread setup with stitch-specific estimates. Check that you have the latest Tondo version, and contact [email protected] if you cannot find a control.

Scanned and image-only charts always go through a review step rather than being auto-accepted, because recovering a grid from an image isn't perfect. Correct anything off in review before you start; if a page has no detectable grid, Tondo tells you honestly rather than guessing.
